Making Tax Digital for sole traders and landlords
We do the work. You just nod.
Your HMRC quarterly updates, sorted in a chat. Send a receipt photo, a voice note or connect your bank. NodTax keeps your records and gets each update ready for you to approve.
The new rules
Quarterly updates are coming for most self-employed people
Under Making Tax Digital for Income Tax, you keep digital records and send HMRC an update every quarter, plus a year-end return. Who's in depends on your qualifying income from self-employment and property, before expenses.

How it works
Ten minutes a quarter, from your phone
Send it
Snap receipts, forward invoices or send a voice note in WhatsApp. Connect your bank once and transactions flow in on their own.
We sort it
NodTax files each item under the right HMRC category and asks you a quick question when it isn't sure. You see your tax bill as you go.
You approve it
Before each deadline we show a plain-English summary. Tap approve and NodTax sends your update to HMRC, with a confirmation for your records.
Who it's for
Built for people who'd rather be working
Trades and drivers
Electricians, plumbers, cleaners, couriers and cab drivers who keep receipts in the van, not in a spreadsheet.
Landlords
One to three properties, rent coming in, and four updates a year to file. NodTax handles both rental and trading income.
Accountants
Get clients' records clean and on time every quarter, with a review queue and bulk approvals.
Questions
What people ask us
Is NodTax approved by HMRC?
We're building NodTax to HMRC's Making Tax Digital requirements and will go through HMRC's software recognition before paid launch. We'll only file for you once we're on HMRC's list of compatible software.
How much will it cost?
Joining the waitlist is free. Plans are planned from £6 a month at launch, and early members get their first quarter free.
Is my data safe?
Your data is stored in the UK and encrypted. Bank access is read-only, through a regulated Open Banking provider, and you can disconnect at any time.
Do I still need an accountant?
Not for routine quarterly updates. If you want a professional to check your figures, NodTax will offer an option with a qualified accountant reviewing each quarter.
Can I use NodTax in another language?
English first, with more languages planned for 2027. Tell us your language when you join and we'll prioritise it.
